Why I opened Haven's Garden

he moment I knew I wanted to have my own shop was after I had kids. I got tired of the nighttime business, getting home at 4:00 in the morning, working 90 hours a week. I wasn’t a dad, and I said, “I need to do something that’s going to change my life.” I still work 80 hours a week. It’s just on my own time. I set my hours. I make commitments to people for donations that I wasn’t allowed to before, because I had to answer to somebody else. It’s been almost four years, and I never thought I’d have two locations by now. I thought it would at least be five years before I had a second location. We’ve grown exponentially. We’ve been so well received. It makes me happy. It’s a sense of pride.
